Clark baseball swept at Mt. Hood; softball wins 2 at Gray’s Harbor

Final home games for Penguins baseball are Saturday

The Clark College baseball team plays its final home games of the regular season today as it looks to get even with Mt. Hood.

The Penguins take on the Saints a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Kindsfather Field.

On Friday, the Penguins were swept in the NWAC South doubleheader against the Saints at Gresham.

Mt. Hood, which has clinched an NWAC postseason berth, beat Clark 7-6 in the first game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth. The Saints finished with a walk-off triple with two outs.

Mountain View High grad Lucas Gregory was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBI for Clark, and Union High grad Brad Grant hit a solo home run for the Penguins.

Mt. Hood won the nightcap 5-1, holding Clark to four hits, two by Jack Fletcher.

SOFTBALL — Clark completed its season on a high note by sweeping a doubleheader against Gray’s Harbor at Aberdeen.

The Penguins won 7-1 and 14-6.

Alexis Henderson was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI in the first game for Clark. Heritage High grad Tori Roush and Columbia River grad Cassandra Grigg were both 2 for 4.

Clark opened the second game with an eight-run first inning highlighted by Jodi Thomasian’s grand slam.

Mary Schorn was 4 for 4 with three doubles and three RBI, and Emily Hewitt was 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBI.

Clark ends the season 12-25 overall, 10-18 in the NWAC South.
