A woman who allegedly stabbed her mother in the head with a butcher knife during a dispute over a game console asked police afterward: “Is my Nintendo DS safe? That’s what I care about,” court records say.

Kristina J. Cutler-Moore, 25, of Vancouver appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree assault. Judge Suzan Clark set bail at $250,000.

Cutler-Moore has a history of mental health issues, court records say. A records check by police found 16 reports over the last two years involving her and her mother. She will return to court Monday to enter an order for a competency evaluation, court documents show.

A woman called 911 about 8:20 p.m. Thursday to report that her daughter, identified as Cutler-Moore, had stabbed her with a butcher knife and run away. She said they had been arguing over a Nintendo DS. The victim told dispatch “blood is everywhere,” according to an affidavit of probable cause, and that “I’ve never seen so much blood in my life.”

Officers responded to the residence, in the 3500 block of Northeast 109th Avenue, and found a large pool of blood in the kitchen and a butcher knife on the floor nearby. The victim had a bleeding head wound and was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment, the affidavit says.

Police found Cutler-Moore outside, east of the building. She was placed in handcuffs and taken to a patrol car, where she asked about her Nintendo DS. She also said her mother bit her and that “the knife slipped on her forehead,” court records state.

A neighbor said she came outside when she heard screaming. She told police: “Daughter came out and said she murdered her mother. She then said, ‘I didn’t murder her; it was in self-defense.’ She then ran away,” according to the affidavit.
