Union slowpitch places second at state

Union’s bid to win the inaugural WIAA slowpitch 4A state title fell short. The Titans were beaten by Central Valley of Spokane 18-1 in the championship game on Saturday in Yakima.

Central Valley knocked out 21 hits to Union’s six.

The Titans reached Saturday final with two wins on Friday.

Bailee Boltz went 3 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI in a 15-5 semifinal win over West Valley of Yakima.

Lauren Cockrell homered and Maggie Tumelty went 4 for 4 in a 12-10 opening-round win over Chiawana.
