The American Public Power Association recognized Clark Public Utilities as a Smart Energy Provider in 2019.

The designation is given to utility companies that are on the leading edge of smart energy program structure, energy efficiency, distributed energy programs, environmental and sustainability initiatives, and customer experience, according to a power association news release.

The association rates utility companies on a scale up to 100 points, and Clark Public Utilities earned 91 points. Of the 67 recipients, four are in Washington.

The program is in its first year, but the designation lasts for two years.

“While the high score is an encouraging reminder that we’re doing meaningful work on behalf of our customers, it also highlights areas where we can take our performance to the next level,” Clark Public Utilities spokesman Dameon Pesanti wrote in a news release.
