Prep roundup: Heritage beats Union, captures bi-district spot

Katie Peneueta had 15 kills, five blocks, six digs and three aces as the Heritage volleyball rallied to beat Union in four sets and clinch a berth to the 4A bi-district tournament with a league tiebreaker win on Thursday.

Heritage won 18-25, 25-11, 2515, 25-14. Adria Jones added 12 kills, seven digs and three ages, while Aliyah Hamblin added 26 assists, seven digs and three aces for the Timberwolves.

As the No. 3 seed from the 4A Greater St. Helens League, Heritage must win a play-in match on Tuesday to advance to the double-elimination bracket at bi-district next weekend at Curtis High School in Tacoma.

Camas 3, Skyview 0 — Emma Villaluz had 20 digs, eight kills and two aces to lead the Papermakers to a win in a 4A GSHL tiebreaker match. Camas won 25-16, 25-15, 25-12.

Camas will head to the 4A bi-district tournament at the No. 1 seed from the 4A GSHL. Skyview will be No. 2.

Grace Varsek had 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks, while Sydney Moltrum added 17 assists and four digs for Camas.

Prairie 3, Evergreen 0 — Jamie Packer had 28 assists, two aces, two blocks and two kills as the Falcons clinched a share of the 3A GSHL title. Prairie won 25-20, 25-12, 25-7.

Prairie will face Kelso on Tuesday at Skyview High in a tiebreaker match to set seeding to bi-district. Sophia Carter added 17 kills and 11 digs for the Falcons, and Katie Postma had 10 digs and three aces.

Columbia River 3, W.F. West 0 — Alison Dreves with 11 kills and 15 digs for Chieftains in their 2A district tournament opener. River won 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.

Columbia River will face Tumwater on Saturday in the district semifinal at Black Hills High in Tumwater.

Ridgefield 3, Hockinson 0 — Morgan Harter and Kohana Fukuchi had 16 assists each as the Spudders opened the 2A district tournament by beating the Hawks 25-14, 25-9, 25-7.

Ridgefield will face Woodland in the district semifinal Saturday at Black Hills High in Tumwater.

Girls soccer

Puyallup 1, Skyview 0 — Ava Harmon shined on defense for the Storm, who had their season ended with a loss in the bi-district playoffs.

Enumclaw 3, Camas 2, OT-PKs — Enumclaw won the shootout 4-1 to end the Papermakers’ season.
