Letter: Children need to be protected

I’m appalled at what children are being exposed to these days. In response to county Councilor Temple Lentz’s comment that no one has the right to decide for others what they can see, feel, think or read: We not only have the right, we have the responsibility to protect children from things that are inappropriate and harmful.

Some things are just wrong, regardless of anyone’s “right,” and drag queen story hour is one of them. I agree with Bob Clary, that Darcelle’s has an age limit for a reason beyond serving alcohol. And regarding the sex education that was proposed in Battle Ground, this was beyond educating children about sex and its consequences, it was influencing them in an unhealthy direction. Young children are trying to figure out how to be the gender they were born to be; they don’t need to be told they can be the opposite if they want to.
