Letter: Herrera Beutler follows through

I commend Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, for hosting the Veterans History Project here in Southwest Washington. This event gives veterans an opportunity to share their stories, and have them preserved in the Library of Congress so that future generations know of their sacrifices.

Jaime has always taken care of our nation’s heroes, both active duty and retired. Just this year, her bill that assisted active-duty Purple Heart recipients to access affordable home loans was signed into law. As we pass Veterans Day, we should first and foremost thank our veterans, but we should also take note of those elected officials who treat veterans with the respect they’ve earned. Politicians who pay lip service to the military on their campaign website are a dime a dozen, but leaders who follow through on their promises are rare. Thanks, Rep. Herrera Beutler.
