How Clark County college football players fared, Nov. 23

This past Saturday brought the season to an end for many college football teams.

For Jacob Bystry (Columbia River), it marked the conclusion of a college career marked by perseverance.

Bystry started his collegiate career at Citrus College in Southern California. After two successful years at the junior college level, the receiver walked on at Portland State.

His junior year, Bystry saw action in nine games. Though he mostly played on special teams, he had three catches for 44 yards.

But it was Bystry’s work ethic that most impressed Portland State’s coaches, so much that he was awarded a scholarship at the beginning of this season.

Bystry played in all 12 games his season. In Saturday’s season finale, a 53-46 loss to Eastern Washington, he returned seven kickoffs for a total of 106 yards.

An economics major, Bystry plans on being an accountant after college.
