Letter: Hold Trump accountable

Viewing the riveting impeachment testimony of our outstanding ambassador to Ukraine is eye-opening to say the least. Ambassador Bill Taylor’s integrity is unassailable and his testimony astonishing.

It is becoming clear that impeachment is not nearly enough to address President Trump’s perfidy. His behavior has been far worse than simple corruption, abuse of office, and attempted extortion of Ukraine for his personnel benefit. Trump’s actions have a more sinister motive.

The president has consistently put the national interests of Russia above America’s interests in regard to Russian aggression in Ukraine. This is evidenced by the presidents’s willingness to withhold military assistance essential to Ukraine’s struggle to survive Russia’s invasion in exchange for fake investigations prompted by conspiracy theories.

It is not enough to impeach President Trump. He needs to be held accountable for pursuing a cowardly course of appeasement and fidelity to America’s enemies.
