Letter: Plan for light rail in future

I have seen and heard many of the concerns about including light-rail transit with the new I-5 Bridge in social media and The Columbian and I want to propose a different kind of potential solution. I also understand the valid concerns about lack of population density to support adding light rail in Clark County at this time, but someday we may have that population density, hence my proposal.

The new I-5 Bridge design should include separate lanes or structures to initially support bus rapid transit that could be converted to light rail in the future for a reasonable cost if/when the need arises. I believe this type of compromise solution could allow this much-needed project to move forward.
