Letter: Thanks for Coach Lomax

By Greg Flakus, Vancouver
Published: November 28, 2019, 6:00am

I wanted to thank Neil Lomax for his work again this year with the Fort Vancouver football team. As some of you may know, Neil was a successful NFL quarterback for many years. He lives in Lake Oswego, Ore. He truly did not need the challenge of driving each day to Vancouver to try and bring back some success to this almost closed down program. For reference, in year one, his team did not score until late in the season, and went 0-9. This year, the team again was beaten in a few games by margins of over 40 points. However, they did manage to win one game and compete in over half of their games this season.

Neil is doing this to build character in these young men. He shares with many of them life lessons. He works with them not just with their play on the field, but with all of the things they will be facing as they grow into young men.

Neil is an example of giving of yourself to help others.
