3A GSHL football: Mountain View 42, Hudson’s Bay 0

Behind its rushing attack, Mountain View coasted to a 3A Greater St. Helens League victory over Hudson’s Bay on Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

Alec Cann opened the game with a 91-yard kickoff return and the Thunder continued to press the attack. Cann left prior to the second half due to an injury but still led the team with 127 total yards.

Quarterback Riley McCarthy ran for 81 yards on 10 carries and ran for two rushing scores as well. Va Ill and Alex Drake each added a touchdown on the ground of their own.

The Thunder defense forced three interceptions and eight punts while allowing just four first downs and 19 total net yards.

Mountain View scored on its first four possessions but stalled following Cann’s non-contact injury. The team was held to just seven points in the second half while coughing up three turnovers.
