The Rockets were cruising along and then had to hold off King’s Way Christian’s fourth-quarter rally to stay undefeated in the 1A Trico League.

Castle Rock built a 35-6 lead after three quarters. Wyatt Partridge scored on runs of 73 and 91 yards as part of a 319-yard rushing effort.

Then King’s Way got back in the game by scoring 27 straight points. Mason Packer scored on two runs and threw a touchdown pass to Bryce Dodge.

“They had a big turnover on a fumble, then recovered an on-side kick,” Castle Rock coach Aaron Gehring said. “The momentum shifted and we are still a young team. We’ll adjust after seeing film.”

Partridge’s 45-yard TD run stopped the King’s Way rally and sealed the victory for the Rockets.

Packer rushed for 153 yards on 35 carries and threw for 196 yards.
