Hancock beats out Bea of Washougal

Battle Ground’s Steven Hancock is The Columbian prep football player of the week for the week ending Oct. 12.

Hancock beat out Washougal’s Brevan Bea for the honor.

Hancock rushed 54 times for 362 yards and six touchdowns, including the game-winner in a league win over Heritage.

Winners may not be nominated again until the postseason, and players may not be nominated in consecutive weeks.

The other nominees

  • BREVAN BEA, WASHOUGAL: Bea caught five passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ win over Columbia River.
  • COOPER BARNUM, SKYVIEW: Barnum caught six passes for 91 yards, recovered a fumble on defense and threw a 45-yard TD pass in the Storm’s win over Union.
  • CARTER MONDA, EVERGREEN: Monda completed 27 of 43 passes for 402 yards and two touchdowns against Kelso.
  • MASON PACKER, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN: Packer rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 196 yards and two touchdowns against Castle Rock.
