Letter: Keep Rice on school board

By Mark Stoker, Vancouver
Published: October 29, 2019, 6:00am

It seems to be the politically expedient thing today to attack school achievement in order to get elected to school boards. From my years of experience on the board, I can say there are no simple solutions.

For students to come to school ready to learn, barriers must be removed. Poverty, mobility, homelessness, and language are all barriers that must be addressed. They’ve been addressed for many years under Dale Rice’s leadership on the Vancouver school board. Don’t be fooled. Vancouver schools are making progress, and experience and continuity are important to continue that progress. Retain Dale Rice!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
