A windy day quandary: I opened my car door and heard that dreaded noise as it grazed a car next to me. No one was around; I got out to leave a note on the windshield. The owner called later to say not to worry. She was surprised I was even willing to leave a note.
Her surprise is perhaps an impact of social media. When people should be talking face to face, instead they choose to hide behind video screens, forwarding someone else’s thought; flippant comments that challenge rather than focus on understanding with other relationship cues.
I recognize frustration with government and broken promises, people challenged with life’s victimization or unfair treatment experiences. Blaming seems to be the resolution approach, cooperation has fallen to obstruction and resolute demolition, scoffing at contrasting opinions.
1) Don’t let 40 percent decide who makes decisions about America. Register and vote.
2) Talk personally, face to face about the “Goodness of America.” Focus on respect, compassion, talk about connecting, healing, mending. Avoid identifying blame, in the discussion include how to use all available resources. Challenge yourself to understand the whole issue, listen then share. Step outside of the box and challenge obstruction.
America’s goodness allows greatness all the time.
