Letter: Camas doesn’t need grandiose pool

By Annice Sampson, Camas

I agree with everything in the letter “Camas pool too expensive” (Our Readers’ Views, Aug. 29). I’m thankful that someone is finally speaking out against the way our city officials are handling our tax dollars. This needs to be addressed before they try to push another 20-year bond on the November ballot.

We only need a pool to replace what we had, maybe covered so it could be used year-round and affordable to all citizens. The city doesn’t need to be in competition with the local swim and sport business. We have plenty of school gyms, churches, and the Lacamas Lake Lodge and playgrounds for people to exercise at, and they don’t cost a fortune to use.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
