Meadow Homes — Chris Schlegel has been helping out as a volunteer in the food room of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Vancouver for 14 years, and is turning 99 on Monday. “He is a dedicated addition to our large volume of volunteers, and his smile lights up our food pantry when he arrives on Wednesday mornings — going straight to our coffee pot,” Carolyn Palmer, executive director, wrote in an email. He has also been known to volunteer with his family, including his daughter, Theresa Blodgett.
