Dr. Brian Jochim was hired at A Children’s Dentist in Battle Ground. A Toledo native, he earned a bachelor’s degree at Pacific Lutheran University, then a dental degree and certificate in public health management at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Jochim also completed an advanced dental program at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., and received a certificate in pediatric dentistry at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Phillip Setran was hired as the newest physician at Vancouver Radiologists. Setran specializes in neuroradiology. He works at both imaging centers of Vancouver Radiologists in the Vancouver Village and Fisher’s Landing areas, and also has privileges at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. He received a degree in neurobiology from University of Washington and a medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. Find out more at www.vanrad.com.

Mark Hottowe was sworn in Aug. 29 as a member of the board of directors for Educational Service District 112. Hottowe represents Director District 2, which includes Castle Rock, Longview, Naselle-Grays River Valley, Ocean Beach, Toutle Lake, Wahkiakum and a portion of Kelso school districts. Hottowe has 40 years of experience in education, most recently retiring as superintendent of Battle Ground Public Schools in 2017. Hottowe’s career began in 1976 teaching Native American students in Neah Bay. He later worked for Sumner School District, was a middle and elementary school principal in Longview, and held administrative roles in the Kelso School District and was superintendent at Ocean Beach School District. The Director District 2 position appointment expires in January 2022; however, since there is an election this fall, Hottowe will be required to run for election to fill the remaining two years.

John Strickland was hired as a project delivery manager by Burns & McDonnell, a construction, engineering and architectural company with an expansion office at 312 S.E. Stonemill Drive, Vancouver. According to his LinkedIn page, he worked for 26 years at CH2M, a Colorado-based engineering company. Strickland helped develop safety practices in the construction industry and has “led innovation initiatives and lean system development on more than 20 industrial projects,” according to a news release.

John Bennett was hired by PeaceHealth, the nonprofit Catholic health system based in Vancouver, as its new chief executive of ambulatory services. He will lead the organization on “expanding access to care and enhancing the consumer and patient experience for outpatient services, including primary care, post-acute and community-based services,” according to a news release. Most recently, he was employed as chief executive for St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare in Southern California.
