The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra seeks young musicians for its 26th Annual Young Artists Competition on Jan. 12, with the winners performing with the VSO on April 18 and 19, as well as being awarded scholarship prizes of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Dec. 3. Students age 18 or younger as of Jan. 1 who reside in Washington or Oregon are eligible to compete in the categories of piano, strings and brass/woodwinds/percussion. Bravo! Northwest Concerts seeks excellent vocalists for the Bravo! Chorale, a semi-professional ensemble of 24 to 32 singers. Paid positions for section singers and soloists/section singers are available. Applicants must be able to sing all styles of music, sight read and learn parts independently. The repertoire for 2019-2020 includes baroque, cross-over jazz and classical, and the U.S. choral premiere of music for the silent film, “Phantom of the Opera.” Auditions are by appointment through Sept. 6. Vancouver Master Chorale will hold auditions by appointment through Sept. 20 for its 2019-2020 concert season of five concerts. This is a large community choir that performs a spectrum of diverse music, from classical masterworks to contemporary arrangements of popular songs, as well as opera and Broadway. Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active or retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Clark College is holding fall quarter auditions for its three choirs. Rehearsals begin in the week of Sept. 23 in Beacock Music Hall on the campus of Clark College. Audition requirements include a song of your choice, vocal exercises and sight reading. Theater

Magenta Theater seeks actors to audition for its December production of “Miracle on 34th Street.” Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the theater at 1108 Main St., Vancouver. There are roles for five women, eight men, 16 of either gender and some extras, including children. Some actors will play multiple characters. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Parents are encouraged to audition with their children. Auditioners should bring headshots and calendars. www.magentatheater.com

Love Street Playhouse is hosting auditions for “Chaps! A Jingle Jangle Christmas” from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29 at 126 Loves Ave. in Woodland. Prepare approximately 32 bars (or about one minute) of a song that showcases vocal ability in the style of the show (Western) to be sung a capella. Be prepared to sight read melodies and harmonies from a song in the show and for cold readings from the script. Bring headshots, calendars and theater resumes, and plan on staying the entire time.
