Letter: Inslee shows leadership

I need to set the record straight. Barbara Ramsey’s letter criticizing Gov. Inslee is not only incorrect, but it shows a total lack of knowledge of events (“Inslee has done nothing,” Our Readers’ Views, April 1).

One of the major reasons this country and our state is in the dire straits it is in is due to President Trump and his administration’s delay in providing us the tools we needed to stem the tide of this virus at its onset. No tests from the CDC and/or bad tests. Insufficient numbers of ventilators and PPE for front-line providers.

The president has repeatedly attempted to gut CDC departments. The government was warned in 2018 to prepare for a pandemic. Washington, D.C., was told in January that China was experiencing this virus. They did nothing but stick their heads in the sand and hope it would go away.

Our governor was the first governor to set into motion protocols to try to stem this tide of infection. He has been in the forefront in this fight. Cut him some slack. He is fighting for us (and for you). The only embarrassment should be directed to the White House for failing our country in this crisis.
