Letter: Vaccines prevent pandemics

By Roz Luther, Spokane
Published: April 4, 2020, 6:00am

This letter is to fellow citizens who carry signs against vaccinations as they join various marches in Spokane. Many people who are beside you refrain from discussing the issue with you, but living through our present crisis makes a case stronger than words.

I hope you will have an “aha” moment and join the legions of people who are figuratively on our knees, thankful to all the scientists who have preceded us developing prevention of diseases. Maybe when they develop a vaccine for coronavirus, you will want to be first in line to get the shot. And while you’re at it, catch up with many other ones. It sure beats pandemics of measles, chickenpox, polio, rubella, smallpox, and even more.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
