ESTHER SHORT — More than 300 people attended the Clark County Spring Luncheon for Meals on Wheels People held on March 10 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington. The event raised close to $157,000 for the nonprofit organization that serves meals to thousands of older adults in the greater Portland metro area. The event featured a video of Battle Ground participant Doug Jones, who received home-delivered meals when his wife was dying and who now dines at the Battle Ground Center multiple times a week. Meghan McCarthy of PeaceHealth gave the keynote address. She discussed how one in seven older adults is malnourished and that the community needs more people to step up and help feed the elderly. Meals on Wheels People serves and delivers more than 160,000 meals annually to older adults in Clark County. For more information, visit mowp.org.
