One person was flown and two others were taken by ambulance to a local hospital following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon on state Highway 503 in Woodland.

The crash was reported at 4:16 p.m. at Milepost 52.2 near McCracken Road, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The road was fully blocked while transportation crews and emergency responders worked at the scene, the agency said.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said that the crash involved two vehicles.

A 1992 GMC Jimmy was traveling north on the highway when it crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2000 Ford F-250 pickup, according to a state patrol crash memo.

The driver of the GMC, identified as 32-year-old Aaron K. Pierce of Portland, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken via LifeFlight to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, according to Finn and the crash memo.

Two passengers from the same vehicle, identified as Danielle F. Sabin, 35, and Christian D. Pickens, 14, both of Portland, were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

Pierce and Sabin were not wearing seat belts, according to the crash memo.

The other driver was identified as 47-year-old Neil C. Brinson of Woodland. He was uninjured, the crash memo states.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
