The 2020 NW Natural Parade of Homes has been canceled due to the statewide stay-at-home order during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Building Industry Association of Clark County announced the cancellation Friday.

The annual event showcases a series of new luxury homes from multiple developers at a specific neighborhood development site in Clark County. The parade homes are typically pre-sold and built to the buyer’s specifications; they become part of the parade tour for two weeks before the buyers move in.

The 2020 show was going to run from Sept. 4-20 at the Magnolia Heights development in Washougal. The stay-at-home order is currently scheduled to run through May 4, but it includes a ban on all non-essential construction, which will make it impossible to complete the houses in time for the show.

“Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the stay-at-home orders, and the ban on all non-essential construction, we are unable to meet our September deadlines,” BIA spokesman Jim Beriault said in a statement. “We fully understand that these are extraordinary times and the safety and wellbeing of our builders, suppliers and vendors is extremely important to us. Though we may disagree with the home building exclusion as set forth, we are respecting the request, and are continuing our outreach to Governor Inslee’s office advocating for our industry. We will see you in 2021.”
