Letter: Long will fill leadership void

By John Lewis, Vancouver

Politicians need to be judged on what they do, as what they say is questionable. Our president and his more than 20,000 lies is a prime example. Locally, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, plays into this scenario. Her talk rings hollow when actions such as voting against H.R. 6800 show that she cares more about not angering Trump than supporting the needs of the citizens of this district. Instead of political cowardice, she should show us why this bill wasn’t worthy of her support.

We need a new voice for this district, and Carolyn Long stands ready to fill our current leadership void. She has earned our support.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
