The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Monday $12.3 million in rental assistance in Washington through CARES Act funding.

This includes $379,833 for Vancouver Housing Authority. It’s intended for low-income households using Housing Choice Vouchers, otherwise known as Section 8, to help them weather the coronavirus pandemic.

“These CARES Act awards will help housing authority partners to meet their and our obligation to protect assisted residents in this time of pandemic,” Northwest Regional Administrator Jeff McMorris said in a news release.

Public housing authorities across the country are receiving awards to disburse to families in need.
