Letter: No recourse for mobile home parks

So, the Werners tried it again (“Rent increase at Hazel Dell RV Park rescinded: Management says notice was ‘issued in error,’ “ The Columbian, Aug. 17). These are the very same owners who bought Woodland East in June 2017. The first thing they did was raise the rent $242 per month, forcing many seniors on fixed incomes to sell their homes and relocate. We were part of that group and had been residents at Woodland East for 18 years. The Werners come up with all sorts of reasons for such exorbitant rent increases, but it seems to me that the bottom line is that they are getting rich at the expense of low-income and/or fixed-income families. They do little to maintain or improve the property they buy.

Contact with the Attorney General’s Office did little or nothing to alleviate the situation. Sadly, it seems there is no recourse for the residents.
