Letter: Testament to a virus

By Kathy Baran, Vancouver
Published: December 23, 2020, 6:00am

For those of you who do not believe coronavirus is real, visit a local cemetery. To honor our parents, my husband and I visited three cemeteries and saw something we have never seen before. There were many, many new graves, adorned with flowers and even a box of tissues under a tree. We could see and feel the pain.

It’s real! People are dying from coronavirus. Many of the obituaries in The Columbian have verified this. Wear a mask, wash your hands and distance yourself from others. As our hospitals are filing up, so too are our cemeteries. Where will you or your loved ones go when there is no room for a burial?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
