Fire destroyed a storage shed at a Battle Ground residence Monday evening.

Clark County Fire District 3 crews were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. to a structure fire at 209 N.E. Third Ave. Fire Capt. Larry Bauska said a passerby noticed the fire, called it in and alerted the residents.

Crews arrived within three minutes and found a shed with a lean-to attachment fully engulfed in flames. The fire threatened the nearby residence, but firefighters stopped it from spreading, Bauska said.

The fire was contained by 6:50 p.m. However, the structure was deemed a total loss as were most of its contents, which were primarily yard supplies and tools, Bauska said.

No one was injured or displaced by the fire.

Six apparatuses responded for a total of 15 firefighters, Bauska said. The Vancouver Fire Department and Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue assisted; the Battle Ground Police Department helped with traffic control in the area.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
