Gladys Knight coming to ilani in July

Tickets go on sale Friday

“Empress of Soul” Gladys Knight will perform at ilani’s Cowlitz Ballroom at 8 p.m. July 23. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 7.

Knight has a musical catalog that spans 35 albums and multiple genres. She was lead vocalist in the legendary soul group Gladys Knight & The Pips. The Pips scored multiple Top 10 gold certified singles such as “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

In 1996, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Gladys Knight & The Pips. In 1997, the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame presented the band the Lifetime Achievement Award.
