Boys swimming: Prairie claims first team title at 3A bi-district meet

Camas beats Union for 4A title

Kairos Phed and Jack Houlahan won individual titles, leading Prairie to its first team title at the 3A bi-district boys swimming meet at Kelso.

Prairie outdistanced Mountain View 331-288 for the team title. Phed won the 100 butterfly in 56.66 seconds. Houlahan won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.53.

Evergreen’s Ilia Zablotovski was a dual-event winner, taking the 50 freestyle in 21.38 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 46.11 seconds.

Mountain View’s Christian Madden also won two titles — the 200 freestyle (1:50.04) and 500 freestyle (4:53.42).

Mountain View also got wins from Timothy Huang in the 100 backstroke (58.70), Justin Xue in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.03) and the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Kelso’s Gabe LaBaum won the diving title.

4A bi-district — Jack Harris, Jaden Kim and Ben Taylor scored individual titles in leading Camas to the team crown at the 4A bi-district meet in Kelso.

Camas outscored Union 329-261 for the title.

Harris was a dual winner, taking the 200 freestyle (1 minute, 45.57 seconds) and 100 freestyle (48.97 seconds). Kim won the 100 butterfly (50.34) and Taylor won the 50 freestyle (22.14). Camas also swept all three relays.

Union’s Tony Kajino was also a dual champion, winning the 200 individual medley (1:59.59) and 100 backstroke (52.73). Union’s Val Tikhomirov won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.01.
