Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks brass, woodwind and percussion players, active or retired. All abilities welcome; no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Vancouver Master Chorale is holding auditions for their remaining concert season. Rehearsals are Monday nights at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian church Vancouver. Please prepare a solo of any type. The Portland Rose Festival and Oak Knoll Winery seek original art for the 2020 Rose Festival wine label contest. Oak Knoll will award $1,000 to the winning artist and transform their artwork into a wine label with the Rose City Label Company. Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 15. UC Gallery and Union Chapel Creatives Collaborative seeks photographers to submit original work for its February exhibit, “The Art of Portraiture and People.” Submission are open to any local photographer, professional or amateur. Magenta Theater seeks actors to audition for Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” Auditions for 20 roles and understudies, ages 18 and older, are at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at the theater, 1108 Main St., Vancouver. Performances are April 10-25. Headshots are required, theater resumes are preferred. No appointments are necessary. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
