HUDSON’S BAY 49, FORT VANCOUVER 30 — Missing leading scorer Jaydia Martin, the Eagles used strong nights from Kamelai Powell (14 points) and Paytin Ballard (12) to earn the 3A Greater St. Helens League win.

Along with Martin resting a back injury, the Eagles (11-2, 2-0) were also without star Aniyah Hampton, who is expected to return later this month from a torn Achilles, and freshman standout Mahaila Harrison, who broke her hand earlier this season and is due back in the next week.

“It gave a chance to let other kids play and shine,” said Bay coach Michael Rainville, who highlighted Ballard for a particularly strong effort.

Kailey Gonzalez led Fort Vancouver (1-11, 0-2) with eight points.
