Washougal’s Savea Mansfield is the Week 4 winter sports prep athlete of the week

Mansfield beats out Jenna Chinn of Columbia River for honor

Savea Mansfield of Washougal girls basketball is The Columbian winter sports prep athlete of the week for the week ending Jan. 11.

Mansfield beat out Columbia River bowler Jenna Chinn for the weekly honor.

Mansfield had 15 points and seven rebounds and 22 points and five rebounds in two league wins for the Panthers.

Winners of athlete of the week may not be nominated again until the postseason. Athletes cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Other nominees were:

  • RILEY AAMOLD, UNION GIRLS WRESTLING: Aamold scored all four wins by pin to take the 130-pound division at the Kelso Girls Invite.
  • JENNA CHINN, COLUMBIA RIVER GIRLS BOWLING: Chinn bowled games of 210, 200, 180 and 212 in two league matches.
  • EVAN NORRIS, LA CENTER BOYS BASKETBALL: Norris scored 27 points and a career-best 35 points in two league wins for the Wildcats.
  • KALANI NUDERA, EVERGREEN BOYS WRESTLING: Nudera recorded three wins by pin to with the 106-pound division at the HillHi Invite in Hillsboro, Ore.
