A local youth business club is preparing to launch its own coffee roasting company, run by the club’s teenage members.

Soul Song Coffee will host a launch event at 5 p.m. Sunday at Galeotti’s Wine Cellar, 715 E. Main St. in Battle Ground. Visitors will be able to meet the youth behind the company, learn about the business club and sample some of the coffee blends.

The coffee beans are imported but roasted locally in Battle Ground. The company’s website and press materials put a strong emphasis on empowerment and charity by pledging to import ethically sourced coffee and donating 100 percent of profits to charities aimed at serving underprivileged youth in developing countries.
