Letter: A friend to salmon

As a senior member of the powerful Appropriations Committee in Congress, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, secured almost $60 million to expand salmon production. In addition to addressing invasive sea lion predation on our rivers, increasing hatchery production will help ensure these salmon and steelhead runs continue for years to come.

Personally, I want to return to a time when there are plenty of fish resources for everyone to enjoy, rather than squabble about short seasons and quotas. I commend Jaime for recognizing the importance of an issue so important to Southwest Washington and getting results.
