Letter: Presidential misfit

By Terry Nichols, Vancouver

This 80-year-old has lived under 14 presidents and has admired all but two of them. I was taught the job was so demanding that only our very best would be elected to it. Sure, they all had flaws, but most covered or corrected their errors. But our current president is neither intelligent nor a decent human being.

Putting a man like Trump into the most powerful job in the world is the ultimate recipe for disaster, not only for us but the world. He insults our allies, ignores climate change, admires himself and dictators, insults any who disagree with him and has such a nasty disposition that those working under him and in his own party have been cowards to avoid his scathing criticisms that might affect their reelections. We have an opportunity to rid ourselves of this despot, but it may not happen owing mostly to his nastiness. The Electoral College could also once again override the majority of voters and saddle us with another four-year term with this misfit. But hopefully not.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
