Clark County Fire & Rescue accepted an offer for an old fire station in downtown Ridgefield that was posted for sale Jan. 23.

Division Chief Dan Yager declined to release the name of the buyer until the deal was solidified. The Clark County Fire & Rescue board of directors accepted the offer for $750,000, about $100,000 less than the original listing price. Yager said that the building is undergoing inspections before the sale is solidified.

The building, Fire Station 24, at 117 N. Third Ave., Ridgefield, is a two-story, 4,130-square-foot building, zoned for mixed-use commercial and residential living. It was constructed around 1947, although the documents that would confirm the origin are lost, Yager told The Columbian on Friday.

John Nohr, fire chief for Clark County Fire & Rescue, said that the buyer is a group of at least two people, and they are local to Ridgefield.

The fire agency also accepted an offer to sell a 1.36-acre property along Northwest Hayes Road for $155,000 that was once considered a contender for a new fire station, Nohr said.

The site has a county-approved well and septic systems that once supplied a building that workers demolished, he said.
