COLUMBIA RIVER 71, HOCKINSON 58 — Nate Snook scored 26 points as the Chieftains pulled away late for the 2A Greater St. Helens League win.

Columbia River led 46-43 in the third quarter before escaping in the fourth.

“They did River things,” Hockinson coach Jon Warner said. “They have a lot of guys that can shoot the basketball and they make you pay on the defensive end.”

Dylan Valdez added 17 points and Michael Foust chipped in 10 for the Chieftains (13-3, 9-0).

Dakota Souders paced Hockinson (6-10, 3-5) with 26 points. Micah Paulsen added 11 and Jeremiah Faulstick scored 11.

“Offensively, (Souders) set the tone for us,” Warner said. “We just weren’t able to make enough shots down the stretch to stay in it.”
