SEATTLE — The Seattle Fire Department is reporting possible mass casualties in a fire Monday morning on Aurora Avenue North.

Several people have been reported injured in the fire in the 2400 block of Aurora Avenue North, the department said in a tweet. That block is near Thomas C. Wales Park, just south of Canlis.

Six people have been injured, three critically, according to KIRO News.

“Mass Casualty Incident has been requested,” according to the tweet, indicating medical units had been dispatched.

Firefighters are cutting into the roof of the old house that had been carved into apartments.

Harborview Medical Center is reporting that they’ve received two patients with burns, one male and one female. KING 5 News reported two people had apparently jumped from the building.

Fire and medical vehicles are blocking the highway in both directions. King County Metro bus routes 5, 26, 28 and the RapidRide E Line have been rerouted through the area to avoid the scene.

By 6:30 a.m., Seattle Fire was reporting they had the fire under control and the investigation into its origin was beginning.
