KENT — Six people have been shot in a suburb south of Seattle, police said.

Five males ranging in age from 16 to 49 were brought to the medical center in Seattle, Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said Monday evening. Two were in critical condition and three were in serious condition, she said.

The sixth person had a minor gunshot wound and was not taken to a hospital, police said.

Officers were called around 6 p.m. to South Kent/Des Moines Road and Pacific Highway South in Kent for a possible shooting, KOMO-TV reported. KOMO’s helicopter over the scene showed a heavy police presence near a bus stop.

Three people have been detained and are being questioned, and it’s unclear if they are suspects, Kent Police said on Facebook. Authorities are investigating what led to the shooting, which does not appear to have been random, police said.

Part of the highway in that area was closed for a crime scene investigation, the police said on Twitter.
