HAZEL DELL — Clark County Fire District 6 Firefighter Assistance Fund and the Vancouver Firefighters Community Assistance Fund were recipients of a Country Financial Operation Helping Heroes donation. They each received $2,500 to help firefighters provide short-term support to people they encounter. “In the normal course of our job as firefighters, we see people at their best, and sadly at their worst,” Vancouver firefighter Bill Dunlap said in a news release. “We truly see people down and out and often their problems are caused by financial stress or instability.” With the COVID-19 pandemic, Dunlap said there’s a greater need than usual from schools and the community in general. Through its Operation Helping Heroes program, Country Financial will donate $3 million to first responders, medical workers and military service members in the communities it does business in. “It’s an honor to make a contribution to Vancouver Fire Department,” said Jason Nichols, a Country Financial representative. “These heroes are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of our community and serve others selflessly. We are grateful for what they do every day.”
