Senior Hero Award winners announced

CLARK COUNTY — The event to honor local recipients of the annual Senior Hero Awards would normally be held in May, during Older Americans’ Month, but it was canceled due to COVID-19. Organizers hope to hand out the 2020 awards at the fifth annual Senior Hero Awards ceremony in 2021. The Senior Hero Awards honor a number of individuals, businesses and community members for their work with older adults. Winners this year were Dick Halvorson, the Pat Jollota Leadership Award; Teresa Wheeler of Columbia Credit Union, the Community Hero Award; Christina Keys of Loving Them Forward, Caregiver of the Year; Jenny Smith of Home Instead Senior Care, Caregiver of the Year; Rae Anne Schneider of Glenwood Place, Caregiver of the Year; Eric Erickson of CDM Caregiving Services, the Senior Nonprofit Award; Beth Paul of In It Together RN, the Senior Business Award; Catherine Kroll of PeaceHealth, the Healthcare Professional Award; and Benjamin Surmi of Koelsch Communities, the Senior Champion Award.
