Letter: Portland mayor is incompetent

Ted Wheeler is a prime example of no common sense. He does not deserve to be the mayor of a once clean, peaceful city. It has now been over 50 nights of total chaos in Portland, and he calls it peaceful expressions of our democracy. On CNN he claimed that this was the weekend his police department was going to find a peaceful solution until the feds moved in to protect property. He could never find a solution because he does not have the courage to have his fine police department move in and do what is necessary.

Let me give Mayor Wheeler a clue — peaceful does not mean bringing bats, hockey sticks, bricks, bottles, setting fires and destroying property. He can’t tell the bad guys from the good people who have a right to march because our Constitution gives us that right. Wheeler probably expects the U.S. government and taxpayers to pay damages caused by his incompetence.
