FISHER’S LANDING EAST — Union High School graduate Dillon Griffin was recently recognized for having perfect attendance over 720 days, or four years there. “He just picked up his diploma and received another certificate for perfect attendance his whole high school career,” said his mother, Melinda Griffin. He attended Fisher’s Landing Elementary School and Frontier Middle School prior to high school, where he also achieved perfect attendance. “To answer the question as to why it was important to him, is because it was important to us,” Melinda Griffin said. “At first we, as his parents, thought it would be a good challenge for him to try and do this. After elementary school we thought that was it; it was just luck. He never really gets sick and never has. Then it happened in middle school. We tried to instill in him that school is your job. You show up every day, do the work required and get rewarded with knowledge.”
