PLEASANT VALLEY — Students in the Office of Student Involvement and the Associated Students of Washington State University Vancouver have been hosting weekly care package drives for students that no longer have access to resources since the campus is closed because of COVID-19. “We’ve been hosting the drives every Tuesday since March 24 and have had an average of 45 students requesting packages each week,” Bayleigh Parsons, student director of communications for the club, said. She said that all remaining budgets are being used for the project, “as well as clubs donating the rest of their funds to this cause.” Parsons said that the WSU Vancouver cafeteria is providing fresh produce, while Fred Meyer, Chuck’s Produce and Home Depot provided free boxes for packaging. The drive plans to continue through mid-June, Parsons said.
