Letter: Trump shows insensitivity

There is a reason to be outraged by the president’s holding a rally in Tulsa, Okla., the weekend of Juneteenth. I will spare most of the details because many readers will say “fake news.” Go to Wikipedia and look up Juneteenth and why the term is used. Also look up the Tulsa race riots of 1921.

The reason to not have a rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth is that it shows not an ounce of sensitivity to the existing racial strife going on now, most recently with the killing of George Floyd. In 1921, many black businesses were burned, aerial chemical “bombs” were dropped on blacks and black businesses, and the episode has been called “the single worst incidence of racial violence in American history.”

With this brief background, you must ask yourself:

Is this be a proper place to hold your political rally? Absolutely not.

Does holding the political rally in this city on Juneteenth show your love for racial equality? Absolutely not, it celebrates racial hatred.

Will this rally heal the racial strife going on right now? Absolutely not.

Is this action by the president the action of a sane person? Absolutely not.

Please keep this in mind when you vote in November.
