The Port of Vancouver has announced the recipients for its 2020 Community Fund. The fund is intended to help projects that spur economic development, workforce training and tourism, according to a press release from the port. The fund’s inaugural year is 2020, and it is intended to become an annual program.

Three winners will receive a total of $5,000:

• Partners in Careers will receive $1,000 to pay for transportation to the organization’s worksite tours. The tours give high school students on spring break a chance to visit businesses to learn about career and training opportunities.

• The Clark College Foundation will receive $1,000 to support its International Day activities. The annual event celebrates international cultural and educational exchange.

• The Vancouver Public Schools Career and Technical Education program will receive $3,000 to help purchase tools, uniforms and gas cards for high school students participating in the Apartment and Maintenance Technicians training program, which teaches plumbing and electrical skills.
