Letter: Jeers for Herrera Beutler

By Nancy Schultz, Vancouver
Published: March 11, 2020, 6:00am

Our representative in Congress, Jaime Herrera Beutler, continues to vote with the Republican Party rather than with her head.

Most recently, she voted against a House bill to prohibit the marketing of vaping products to children, while at the same time voting for a rider to that bill that would add anti-abortion language, as seen in The Columbian’s Roll Call, March 1. The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. One is necessary; the other is not.

She claims to be an advocate for families and child health and yet fails to live up to that claim, time and again.

We can do better. We must replace her in November.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
